For over 20 years, 316 Retreat has been dedicated to organizing and coordinating weekend retreats for both men and women. Our team of experienced professionals has a deep passion for creating unforgettable experiences that cater to the unique needs and desires of our guests.

316 Retreat works directly with church leaders. We do not provide registration on an individual, self-registration basis. Church groups can join in with as few as ten men. To learn more about how you can register with your church, contact us at the link below

Our philosophy is to create an environment that facilitates the needs of our guests while working very hard in the back ground so the entire event is a seamless enjoyable experience.

We are committed to hosting our weekends at Young Life camps across the country. We love working with our Young Life Family. To learn more about Lost Canyon by Young Life - our camp location in Williams, Arizona - check out the link below.

Meet the Team

  • Scott Scherkenback

  • Greg Hartenbower

Greg has been with 316 Retreats since the early days of OCG Ministries. One day Scott called and asked if I’d like to participate in facilitating a men’s weekend. Since that was about 20 years ago, what they say is true; time does fly when you’re having fun! He is passionate about men’s ministry and has seen the impact of a weekend at Lost Canyon for men who attend. It’s been an ongoing joy to host men and watch the camp be built out and evolve over the past two decades.

His favorite weekend part is the Prayer Walk, with worship being a close second. Watching men walk the camp, in fellowship, and praying for one another is encouraging. Rumor has it he tries to spend part of one worship session behind the stage listening to 400+ men led by the worship team singing their hearts out in worship. He’d also be remiss if he didn’t mention all of the brothers in Christ who he likely would have never met were it not for weekends at Lost Canyon.

Outside 316 Retreats, Greg works in the AZ office of a Financial Planning and Investment Management firm headquartered in NM. Greg and his way better half Jennifer (who helps with Tracy’s team for the women’s weekends) have two adult daughters, Jessica and Rachel, and recently adopted Duke, the wonder doodle. They live in Anthem and attend Desert View Bible Church.

  • Joel Newbury

Joel has been a part of 316 Retreat for over a decade, after first coming to camp to help during his high school years. He is a school counselor at a local high school. He also teaches at the college level.

Today Joel serves our ministry by supporting much of the back-end functions of registrations, camp waiver, cabin assignments, and more. He actively works with churches on their processes and has been instrumental in implementing many key functions of the ministry.

Joel’s favorite part of camp are the worship sessions, as he loves to see men from all different churches come together to worship as one body.

  • Jared Scherkenback

Jared became involved with 316 retreat at a young age, helping facilitate games such as paintball and five-man challenge. Over time he became more involved in both the front and back end functions of 316 retreat, helping manage administrative retreat prep as well as process flow of the retreat weekends themselves. You may notice him often on stage for announcements or raffle during retreat, or running games and events.

Jared’s favorite part of 316 retreats is the team sports and events held, because he loves to see men come together in unity and companionship to have fun and let loose with some good old friendly competition.
